Excellent model and backstory too.
I much prefer grim and grimy to clean and bright.

A really atmospheric layout. I especially like the 'arty farty' photo with the bare tree. The layout in general and this photo in particular put into my mind the lyrics from Winter Song by Lindisfarne: "When winter comes howlin' in...". Marvellous (your layout and the song).
