Surely no one could not like the Jonny Bairstow innings last week. That was great for thousands of people who watched it for nothing. And Alonso, second place on the grid today. Thats the kind of sport, i like. With so many repeats on our tv screens, these two performances, live, were both kinda special.
Should have said John, brilliant result for Alonso. Loved his post quali interview, something like he will be watching for Max in his mirrors when he gets to first corner
. Great champ, would love to see him back in a Ferrari or a Red Bull.
It was a great effort from Alonso yesterday and he always has that bit of devilment in his interviews. I too would love to see him in a competitive car - the Alpine is not that far off the pace.
I think the FIA have made a big mistake with the new rules though.
I’m tempted to watch the race on catch up so I can fast forward the bits where Sky say “let’s go to Christian on the pitwall”.
At least I won’t be able to hear any of that when I go to Silverstone in two weeks time.
(If the thread hasn’t been locked by then I’ll put up a picture of Alonso)

I was a car park attendant/ Marshall at Silverstone, many years ago. Great job. Rich guys with big cars, tipping to ensure early exit. Pay was poor, but tips were superb. No chance to watch racing though.

Got to do something about the "porpoising". Can't be good for the driver's backs, Lewis looked in agony after last week's race.

The FIA working group that came up with the new regs knew that porpoising was a danger just as it as the last time they allowed ‘ground effects’ in the ‘80’s. They also knew that the answer as active ride suspension which was developed back then specifically to counter that problem.
The working group had the opportunity to include ARS in the rules and mandate a single supplier, as they do with the engine management system, tyres, halo etc, but they chose not to. That’s inexcusable in my opinion.
Additionally, the introduction of spending limits this year means that if a team starts on a design dead end (as many teams have), they are stuck with the design for the season. Even if they have the tech knowledge and skill to correct the design they effectively cannot spend the money to do it until next year.
It’s the same with engine limits - Ferrari have already used their allocation for the year and although they can add new pars for reliability, they cannot bring in a new engine design due to the homologation rules.
When the hybrid engines were introduced a couple of manufacturers made the wrong design choices, particularly Renault, and they knew they needed to design a new engine. Not allowed under the rules so every one of their teams was crippled for the season.
Remember when Honda would bring a totally new design of engine into play two or three times a season?
Seems to me the locked in designs are a hindrance to competitive racing.
Rant over now we’re way off topic.

I think WTD is correct in say the Football should be banned or special section. Because footer fans seem to hate any remarks from others who dont like it. I dont like it but my wife is a huge Sunderland Fan. But we dont argue about it. In fact come present buyiong time I know get her anything Sunderland she is over the moon with it. Why do footer fans think every one else is wrong. Chill out live and let live. I think adults should be able to chat about anything in the mess room without falling out with others over it..If they cant be frienly about it them gave them their own little section. Perhapse they should go to a foot ball forum. This is Model Railway forum
