The rocks got a wash of thinned black followed by thinned yellow ochre. And a coat of finest green to seal the plaster. The non-scenic sides and base will get a coat of black tomorrow.

Yes it does look good - I like the rock finish colour - I have been studying the Woodland Scenics tutorial on painting the rock face.

Same here - just followed the instructions. :D
Tip: make sure the black is thinned sufficiently. Mine was a little darker than I would have preferred as the mixing pot had been standing on the bench for a while.
Test on some of those offcuts if you go down that route Barry.

Finished painting/sealing the plaster - still a bit soft so there’s some touching up to do. Also fitted the truncated backscene at the end and painted the track. I’m expecting the eggs to lift slightly as it dries but this will accounted for but ground cover adjacent to the track. There is also a lump of plaster in one of the tunnels that restricts height so that will have to be trimmed a little.

Next on the list is a good tidy up - the shed looks like a tip. :D

Painted the two tracks on the incline this morning then did the ballasting on the new section - about 45 minutes work. Once dry the hill will be put back in place and some ‘texture’ added to the bare sections of baseboard.

Texture layer now added and drying. Before it dries too much it will get a coat of paint which will also smooth out any bumps.
