Busy day - dulled down the shed walls with a thin grey wash. Takes the glare off the white primer without being as grubby as Glencairn’s pictures.
Decided it was time to fix a dodgy point motor. Although I have a number of crossovers, I have wired every point individually apart from this one. One switch triggers two motors via a CDU but just recently one has stopped firing. Replaced the motor but still no joy so I traced back the wiring with no obvious faults being found so knowing the first point fired ok, I suspected the short jump wires to the dodgy point may be the problem, so I replaced those.
Now it fires sometimes (point 1 is still ok) but there is no consistency.
So I gave up and replaced a servo on the goods shed crossing gate - at least that seems ok now.

Steve, re your solenoid point motor pair.... Are they linked one motor to the other with a pair of wires from the operating switch or lever? If so, I always recommend wiring each motor with its own dedicated pair of feed wires coming from its operating switch or lever. i.e. the switch or lever has four operation wires. Two for one direction and two more for the opposite direction. All wiring in 16/0.2mm minimum. Return for both motors also 16/0.2mm minimum and better if 24/0.2 or even 32/0.2mm. :D

That will be the problem Brian. I added the point at a late stage in the build and got lazy with the wiring. Unpicking that may be a challenge! Not impossible but a job I would rather not have to undertake.

What are the solenoid motors being used?
If Seep PM range (PM1 etc) these are very power hungry and ensuring each motor is feed correctly is absolutly essential.
Peco PL10 etc are a lot better power wise, but do need some means of frog polarity or point position switching adding!
