OO Model Railway on BBC World

Hi Everyone, I was pleasantly surprised to see an article about an OO model railway on the BBC World website. It's located in the Scotland section and is about a recreation of Alloa station circa 1960. I thought that forum members might find it interesting to see how non-model railway enthusiasts view the hobby. There are a couple of short videos within the article. It's kind of funny saying things like " even the locomotives are from the same era", as if that's somehow surprising. But it's a nice article and it's good to be in mainstream, Ian Alan

Yes, it's the article. Obviously, I hadn't seen the thread on the Mess Room forum. I agree with TDD that any decent article in the mainstream media about model railways has to be a good thing. And it's a crackingly good layout.

Good article - I enjoyed it and the photos. Most coverage of the hobby has to be helpful especially if it is done in a positive light to avoid the cliché geekiness so often perceived by those outside the hobby. I've recently 'come out' at work and have had only positive reactions - then you find that so many other people are involved in hobbies - visit 'Hobbycraft' on a Saturday for proof that hobbies are very popular (Disclaimer - other hobby shops are also available!).

I like the use of the phrase 'come out' in the previous post. I have to confess that I have not 'come out' at work about having a model railway. Maybe one day...
