Just looking at some previous posts regarding CDU'S. I have approx 75/85 points on my layout, can any one suggest a particular size of CDU?

The Peco CDU is very neat but not very good. It doesn’t matter how many points you have just how many you want to change together. Generally 2 points is the norm. You need to decide if you want a posh one in a case or not. I haven’t bought one for many years so hopefully somebody who has will be along shortly.

The Gaugemaster CDU is as good as any and not expensive. I have one on each layout and they work faultlessly every time.

Hi
As stated, 1 or 80 points on the layout it really doesn't matter. Your CDU will only be powering 1 or 2 point motors normally at any one time.
Usually only one CDU is needed for the whole layout. But where separate remote operating panels or positions are used - typically on large layouts, then one CDU per operating position can be installed.
If you use a diode matrix for multi point operation then a larger CDU would be needed, but mostly when the operating switch or lever or whatever you use to operate the motor is moved then mostly only 1 or perhaps 2 motors move. 2 moving together would for example be a cross-over pair of points.
Gaugemaster CDU is good as too are the those from BlockSignalling, their CDU2 or CDU4 would be my choice. http://www.blocksignalling.co.uk/index. ... du2c-cdu4c

I have a basic GM unit and it is reliable, powerfull enough to throw several points at once and totally adequate for my max of 16 points.

Ah I see. Just as long as they change as many points at the same time as you require that is all you need to know.

The best way to ensure the CDU can switch multiple points is to NOT wire them up in parallel, but rather switch them individually.
