DCC fitting to Hornby gwr tank 0-6-0 no 2788.The motor fitted I believe to be Hornby part np x 1846.The pickup from the wheels appears straight forward but connecting to the bottom brush seems not quite as easy . Has anyone instructions for this dcc fitting. thanks

From what you say I presume this isn't DCC ready.
In which case unsolder the wires from the motor and solder the orange and grey wires from the decoder to the motor. Then join the old wires to the red and black decoder wires and insulate with some heat shrink.

Don't forget to remove the capacitor and any other components that are fitted across the motor terminals. These are there for radio suppression and are no longer needed as the DCC decoder already has them installed as part of its internal circuitry.

I hardwired a TTS sound decoder into mine - see here http://www.halton96th.org.uk/article1.html

I make note in there about the lower brush being inaccessible so I left the existing wire connected to the motor, disconnected from the pickup end and joined the decoder wire to that.

I hope that helps.
