Sorry - this didn't work. I'll try again - success. Not a great fan of "Clarkson" but thought this was interesting - great pictures in full screen. Perhaps we should have let Chinese worker build Crossrail!

Wow. I take it you haven’t read anything about their equally amazing bullet train lines. Several stations collapsed, track fell to pieces etc. Think I’ll avoid that road.

That's a lot of roads at great cost in just 30 years. It goes to show that if one dedicates ones country to manufacturing it does not take that long before they start to reap the rewards in government wealth. Turn away from manufacturing and mining out the raw materials, and the country starts to become stone broke. Britain was once rich because it mined raw materials, and then made things from those raw materials. Britain started to scale down its industry from around the 1960's onwards and countries like Japan and later China took over.

I think your right to avoid it WTD - wouldn't want to on the bridge that's twice the height of the Shard - perhaps Chinese cars come with a parachute!

Japanese import cars come with a flare. I have one in a Toyota.

As normal, we are behind with so many things in the UK & always ends up costing so much more. Look at Brexit, we could of quite likely built half the HS2 with what's been wasted in the last 3 years on this mess up.
And the London cross rail link is an absolute joke. I have a few friends on LT & DLR trains that can't believe what's going on & the mess-ups on this build.
All i can say is good luck to China, they're the ones getting things right & the rest of the world is lagging behind.

Like I said I wouldn’t like to drive on that road. Their bullet train infrastructure fell to bits overnight.

I think there is a lot of truth in what you say Collectors but I agree with WTD I don't fancy driving those roads in a country which is one of the most likely places to have earthquakes.

From all accounts they decided not to bother with too much cement in the concrete.

Must admit we were looking to drive to Montpellier near the French/Spanish boarders later in the year & it would involve the Millau Viaduct & that is a high one. Depends what route is taken & how brave we are feeling. lol
