This particular evening I was contemplating the year 1976, when Amtrak was inaugurated, and railroads
in general were patching together whatever head end power they had on hand. The Amtrak "Montrealer", originated in
Washington, DC, traveled, the length of Vermont, and terminated in Montreal, Quebec. I traveled it once, about that
year. In 1984 a small bridge collapsed, with Amtrak on it, and that was it for a while.

Heavy Fuel
Re: Heavy Fuel
A 'cool' track that, Dire Straits "Heavy Fuel", and some great train action to go with it!

Re: Heavy Fuel
Thank you. The UK sound is so often astonishingly unique. Dire Straits being one my favorites of all time.
Re: Heavy Fuel
"The Gallery," "Wild West End," "Six Bladed Knife," "Water of Love," "Lions," list goes on and on. Truly brilliant stuff.
Never been a great fan of Punk, but Ian Drury, who's lyrics are really quite incisive and smart, rather caught my
attention. Oddly enough, I have never, ever been able to locate the track "Don't Tell the Children;" a soulful
piece about divorce. Heard it a few times, never been able to find it again.
The Flying Lizards, classified as "New Wave" is fabulous, just fabulous.
Never mind The Beatles, and Mick Jagger, whom I generally prefer, completely turned the whole genre on its head.
According to Bill Bryson, per capita, the UK has generated more geniuses of different arts and sciences than any
other nation. Seems about right: Newton, Stephenson and Son, Brunel jump to mind. Smart people everywhere, but
the UK has some special knack for it.

It also has a knack to exporting those ideas and letting someone else develop them into a commercial product. Ideas yes, development no...Chops wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 5:54 pm "The Gallery," "Wild West End," "Six Bladed Knife," "Water of Love," "Lions," list goes on and on. Truly brilliant stuff.
