Hornby Saint

Hi, can any body help me with a old Hornby class Saint model.
As an old Great Western man I collect GWR locos.
Required this loco recently and needed to convert it to DCC.
Only trouble is as the motor, ringfield, is in the tender and I can not remove
the body from the chassis.
Is it just tight or is there screws holding body in. ?
If so where are they ?
Looked at service sheet on Hornbys webb site but it only shows split down components
not how to remove body from chassis.

I've not had a Saint, but I have noticed that locos made in China used plastic which wasn't as flexible as Margate locos, so things were not so easy to disassemble. Hopefully someone can advise further. I have had Margate produced kings and a patriot (I think it was) and they just unclipped if I remember correctly. The main consideration once it is unclipped or unscrewed etc is to make sure all the wheel pickup terminals can be isolated from the motor terminals as the LMS loco I had could not. This is rare for a ring field motor as all my diesels had no problem. With this LMS loco the current was passing through even though all wires had been removed. I believe it has something to do with a screw in which Peters Spares now make a plastic equivalent. Back when I went into DCC this wasn't available so the LMS loco went to a friend.
Hopefully someone with a saint can advise. I've never had a saint as when I was a GWR modeller they were out of my price range.

The tender body on this may just be a clip fit, requiring a firm pull to remove it.

I think you squeeze the sides in then pull it off. If not is there a slot at the rear between body and chassis to insert a screwdriver to lever the top off?

Hi,
Friend of mine, who is converting some of my locos to DCC, had the loco and found the slot was in the front end.
In goes screw driver and off came tender top, job done.
Easy when you know how.
I was going to convert myself as a ringfield motor is quite straight forward job.
