I'm a fan of high speed aircraft, cars, boats, motorbikes etc but I'll say again - putting a jet engine of this size on 4 wheels to see how fast it can go it is utter, utter nonsense and a complete waste of time and money.....there is no technical benefit to the world whatsoever.....just take a Tornado and cut the wings off, will do as well......all that money could have paid for a bullet train or two for HS2....... ........HB

I think you will find this is a private venture so no government (our taxes) have been wasted.

Fully aware of that, TWD, but it is just irritating that someone with so much money and ambition should waste it all on a meaningless project. So a jet engine on wheels can go 1000 mph! So what?....... .......HB

I guess all world records are a waste of time, fastess 100m, marathon, F1 car, airliner, but what the heck, go for it.

If I had spare millions I would spend most of it on wine, women and song. Then I'd squander the rest
