Surface mounted point motors.

I am rebuilding my layout and making a new fiddle yard. I am reusing my Cobalt IP analogue motors installed under the baseboard. But there is one position where, because of a baseboard join, I need to install the motor on the surface.
DCC concepts do a surface mounted motor, but it only come in packs of two or more with additional electronics which I don’t need. But I also have a couple of Peco surface point motors which I might be able to use.

My question is - is there a way of installing Cobalt point motors on the surface?
Or, because of power supply issues, will Peco point motors operate on 12v dc?

I can't see a reason why the Cobalt can't be surface mounted sideways with some sort of mounting adaption. But the drive rod would have to be modified and probably shortened and a linking mechanism designed to connect motor drive to the points tie bar.. You would also need to be aware of the size a surface cobalt motor fitted on the surface would need.
The DCC Concepts surface motor is the Cobalt - SS which is a stepper motor AFAIK and needs special drive electronics. Peco PL11 motors will if mounted correctly work on 12 volts DC.

I have mounted a couple of Cobalts on top on my layout no problem. You just have to create a suitable link.

That’s brilliant. Of course. Thanks.
