Triang R50 Black Princess class

I am currently rebuilding a couple of Triang Black Princesses, they are the early made ones with the two side plates and 2 blocks of metal to fill them out. The bodies are in good shape for their age.

The chassis are in reasonable condition however I don't know what the previous owner done with one of them but it looks like they were wired wrongly and the shorting out has eaten part of the side frame way and the part of the wheel that sits on the track on one side and damaged the same part of the wheel on the other side and the power collectors are trashed. I wonder if new phosphor Bronze pickup strips are available to fit X56 collector plates?. If not then I will get a couple of second hand ones.

1 X04 motor needs the fibre brush holder replacing then I can test both of them. I have some spare wheels etc so the repairs should not take tong apart from the power collectors.

Fine job saving vintage Triang from the dust bin. I would hope to see pictures of your efforts. They sound beautiful.

Hi Tony.
This link may help with spares - they have the X04/4 fibre brush holders in stock

http://www.hornby-railway-trains.co.uk/ ... Motors.htm

Maybe they can advise on the collector too

Here is my small princess collection.

Top to bottom.
Rovex "Plunger" princess - plastic wheels !
Rovex later princess - metal wheels.
Tri=ang princess.

Of all of them the "plunger" princess is the best runner.
Hope the info is useful.
Regards, Colin.
