Hello,
I made a search for switching/shunting layouts an I found this very interesting photo:

But I also like to see my trains running free. So, with a little help from Anyrail, I drawn these two plans. What's the best? All your comments will be very appreciated. Thanks.

The top one is more practical - you can get a loco plus a few wagons or a coach in the section after the points (head shunts?) on the right.
One length won't be long enough for more than one loco and possibly one wagon, no coaches.
Lay the track down without wiring it up or fixing it and try it with the hand of God powering the loco's you intend to use.

Thanks for your reply. I drawn a new plan with more room on each length but I'm not really happy with it.

I am partial to diamonds, they add a bit of drama. Great concept.

Thanks for all your replies Gentlemen.
It's a switching layout where the famous "timesaver" rules will never apply here.
The scenery will be mostly the same as seem on the photo above.
