TWICKENHAM MRC OPEN DAY JULY 13TH

#1

Post by TEAMYAKIMA »

Twickenham & District MRC's Open Day is the biggest event in the club's calendar and this year it's taking place on July 13th.

Please come down and support the club and find out what it can offer YOU! There will be a relaxed atmosphere (so much relaxed than an exhibition!) and you can chat to the layout operators - and maybe even have a go yourself!

There will be layouts in N, OO, O and even vintage TT! There will be demonstrations, a s/h stand and refreshments.

Full details on www.tdmrc.org.uk

Here is a photo of ADDISON ROAD our 7mm layout which will be up and running on July 13th. Do YOU model O gauge? Why not bring down a loco (DC only) and maybe you can give it a run on the layout.

We hope to see you there!

Twickenham MRC are very keen to attract D&E modellers, but to attract D&E modellers to a club you need to have a D&E layout and to build a D&E layout you need D&E modellers.

So to show our commitment to D&E modelling we are building a small portable current scene D&E layout and it's having the desired effect - we are attracting D&E modellers!

If YOU are a D&E modeller and looking for a D&E friendly club - look no more! Come down on July 13th and meet the team! And bring some of YOUR models to run on our D&E layout - we are a very friendly bunch!

Here is a photo of EASTGATE under construction - come along on July 13th to see what progress we've made!

I think people posting anything should leave text speak and abbreviations for doing text messages on their phones. Suggest they just use English in posts. Then all would understand from beginner to old hands. Much easier for all.

Yes, D&E stands for DIESEL & ELECTRIC and 'YES' Twickenham & District MRC are proud to give a warm welcome to all D&E modellers, but we also like STEAM trains too! We have two steam era OO layouts - TWICKENHAM JUNCTION and NORTHWICK - both of which will have static displays at our Open Day.

So whether you model DIESEL & ELECTRIC or STEAM you will find something to interest you at our Open Day - we hope to see YOU there!

BTW we also like N gauge!

There are plans afoot for a completely new N gauge layout in the very near future, but in the meantime we are showing our current N gauge project MILTON at this year's Open Day...……..

Last, but by no means least we like TT and we like to look back to the old days before DCC - or at least some of us do!

So we combined the two - our club was formed in 1961 and a few years back for our 50th anniversary exhibition we made a 1961 style 'kitchen table' layout in TT gauge, just to show what our hobby used to be like.

There's a June 1961 Railway Modeller and battery power to bring back memories of how things were and the remarkable thing is that everything (except the two running trains and the tea cup) is super glued to the table - yes EVERYTHING! Come along on Saturday and see for yourself.
