Currently Twickenham MRC has three N gauge projects - BATTY MOOR our well established exhibition layout, MILTON our members' modular project and SIEGE STREET our N gauge tramway layout.

2019 will see the start of a new N gauge layout. Are YOU interested in getting involved in a new N gauge layout? Why not come down to our Open Day on July 13th and meet the team?

Here is a recent photo of MILTON …..

Some nice layouts there, I particularly like the double sided N gauge one.
Most people are shocked when they find out how bad I am as an electrician

Just a quick update from Twickenham & District MRC

Obviously our clubroom has been shut since March, but club life goes on! Newsletters, virtual quiz nights and online support has meant that the club has held together and continued to support its members.

However, the new situation we find ourselves in has meant the cancellation of our two big events in 2020 - our OPEN DAY and our 'pop-up' exhibition in Twickenham Library. These two annual events are both our shop window to attract new members and our main fund-raising opportunity.

With fund-raising via these events off the agenda in 2020 the committee has looked for new ways to help fund the club and we are now filling that financial hole by selling donated items on ebay. Members have been very generous, but we are now running out of donated items to sell ...............

Does anyone reading this have any unwanted models (or toy trains) they would be prepared to donate to Twickenham club to help it through these difficult times. Maybe some old trains you re-discovered in your attic during a lockdown sort out? Maybe some items left over from an abandoned project?

If anyone is able to help our club please let us know - we can arrange collection across a wide area of London and the South East.

Twickenham MRC is flying the flag of modelling in SW London and looks forward to holding meetings and events ASAP in 2021 - we thank you for your support.

BREAKING NEWS

As an initiative to help bond Twickenham & District MRC members together whilst the clubrooms are forced to be closed the club has launched a brand new club magazine/newsletter.

In recent years the various club groups (N, OO, O and G) have tended to have their own ad hoc newsletters concentrating on their own projects but now the club has launched an ambitious monthly magazine intended to appeal to ALL members no matter what their specialist interest. The first edition was published on December 1st and was hailed as a great success by members. It wasn't just news from the committee, it included a quiz, humour and profiles of new members designed to help them integrate with existing members.

In fact it's been such a success that the club has decided to offer a FREE subscription of the new magazine to outside interested parties - as a form of trial club membership if you like - until the club is able to re-launch itself with a 'OPEN EVENING' soon after lockdown restrictions are finally lifted.

If you would like to find out more about Twickenham MRC and its members and gain a flavour of what it's like to be a member please email our chairman Paul Raven-Hill on chairman.tdmrc@gmail.com and he will arrange for the magazine to be sent to you as a PDF attachment free of charge until our OPEN EVENING which we hope to hold sometime in the summer. We will also send you a personal invitation to the OPEN EVENING as/when details are known.

So, if you are interested in Twickenham MRC please contact us, receive our new magazine, find out more about the club and its members and then come down once we re-open and meet us in person!

Our hobby in general and Twickenham & District MRC in particular have gained great free publicity in the SWLondoner an online newspaper serving SW London from Kensington to Croydon.
