Access to the loco shed

I’m planning the new layout, full size on the baseboards with track and track templates. I think I’ve got the main station now but am concerned as to whether access to a small loco shed and coaling stage is permissible by reversing engines in one of the three goods sidings. I’m considering making the loco shed serve the branch engine only and having a larger shed elsewhere. Loco stock currently is all tank engines with one Q1 but the nature of the layout is changing so a tender engine or two are on the cards over the next months. Photos attached

Richard, I'm not as experienced as most of the other forum users but, IMHO, if it works for you that's fine - it's your railway.

Some purists may prefer only to model authentic operations but I'm a pragmatist!

As AJ said it is your railway and do what ever works for you. On a railway somewhere in the world what you are planning will have been done for real.

Look okay to me!
If your layout is permanently erected and will never be parted along the join in the baseboards then this won't apply, but if it is one that is portable then you may need to re position the two points that are both spanning the board joint. Also look if there is room underneath for the point motor (Assuming you're using point motors) to be fitted to the slip without it fouling the baseboards end framing.

WTD is right. I am modelling a small West Country branch line being a GWR man. Nevertheless I run a cracking little J15 on it just because I can and I like it!

Just a suggestion, why not put the loco shed up in the top corner (to the left of where the spray bottle is)?
That way the branch loco would be able to access it easily from the bay platform (which I assume the branch passenger train will use?) and keep it clear from the goods sidings.

Also, it looks like you will only have room for two goods sidings, one going into the goods shed and one along side it. Given that that is the case, you could swap the positions you currently have the loco shed and goods shed in. That way one of the lines where the goods shed currently is would be the loco shed line and the other would be the headshunt for the goods yard.
