Best advice is to get one in the autumn/winter for next year.

I say that nearly every year Steve - then the weather cools down and I forget all about it until the next heatwave.

Worth doing some research if you want one though, they can be very expensive.

They are all a tad noisy but you wont find a silent one. This one works well https://www.screwfix.com/p/blyss-wap-07 ... oner/281gp

We have had one for laser 12 years. Ours is a Blizair 2201. As Brian says, they are a tad noisy, if you sit with it on, but we put it on in thr lounge, 40 mins before we arrive, then turn it off. Room is superbly chilled, and we keep shutters down, to maintain low temp. Ours vents through hole made in outside wall. We researched well before buying, and this make came very high in recommended models. Really powerful, and does exactly what it says on the box. We are very happy with it. My wife is a red head, and detests the heat. She is , as I write, sitting happily in pre cooled room.

Our freestanding B&Q unit is just about keeping the room temperature under control, but I really need one of these designed for primates.

Were about to melt here in Kent! Currently 37.4
None or very little sleep last night doesn't help either!
We have an AC wall fitted unit in the conservatory, but we rarely use the conservatory when its so hot! The AC works well but does use a fair bit of electric.

two points, here, opening doors and windows, makes house even hotter. Secret is electric shutters. Secondly, we looked into wall fitted ones, but were advised they use in the words of my sparks, beaucouo, beaucoup, current. He advised the mobile one. Cant say we have noticed much increase in our bill. Its probably, cos we only run for the 40 minute, session to cool lounge. We could never understand when we first moved here, why all farms/ houses had their shutters down, all summer. Learnt the hard way.
