I watched the last episode of Black Adder last night on Gold and and I can’t remember a program that portrayed the futility and waste of life better in WW1, although it was very funny, it also put the insaneness of it all brilliantly, one piece comes to mind was when Darling ask about the model of the land about 6’ by 2’ that had been captured, what scale was it? and was told 1 to 1.
A program well worth watching if it comes around again very thought provoking.

I have the full box set of Black adder starring the brilliant Rowan Atkinson. Early Black Adder series were poor compared to the later ones, penned I believe by Ben Elton. Indeed the final episode of B.A.G.F. was poignant.

Must admit I’m a M*A*S*H fan also,I’ve also just followed Catch 22 tv series which I found also very good.
To catch phrase Baldrick I have a cunning plan, if we put all the politicians and leaders of the armed forces on the front line of any conflict, I wander how many conflicts we would have ?.

I have always been of the opinion that to achieve a knighthood you must have led your troops into battle riding a horse whilst in full armour and waving a broadsword. Singing a song, riding a bike, kicking or batting a ball or running fast just does not count.

My favorite Black Adder series was BAGF, closely followed by the Elizabethan one.
I once watched the whole of the BAGF series back to back on a coach trip from Liverpool to Le Mans for a football tournament!
MASH was very funny too.
