Question: Does it make sense if I have platform under a road bridge?

Hi,
My N gauge layout isn't all that long so the station platform isn't either. I don't want a layout that is all station, but ideally, it would be nice for the station to be long enough to cater for realistic train lengths.
I'm going to have a plate girder road bridge exiting the layout going over the line at the station end of the layout. Originally I was going to have the platform stop before the bridge (which would leave the platforms with a length of 3 mk1 coaches).
I've had the idea to continue the platform under the road bridge so I can pretend the real platform is longer and goes off the layout. What do people think of this idea? I've never seen it before in reality, but then I haven't seen all that many stations.
Do people think this would be very unprototypical, how realistic might this be?
My layout is supposed to be on a double track mainline in the late 50s to 60s in a fairly rural setting.
Here's the part of the layout currently.
If I do have platform under the bridge I will bring the bridge forward and towards the station and hide more of the sharp curve.
Here is the nearest thing I can find relating to what I'm talking about. This is Hucknall station, but I don't think the platform under the bridge has ever been used for passengers.
Thanks
