I have a metal detector in the shed that needs new batteries (or re-charging - I can't remember) as I thought my grandchildren (all boys) were interested. There is also everything to go with the interest as well. A pointer, shovel and other stuff. I was wrong........their interest lasted one trip :( .

I had a go once, lasted about 30 minutes. Rather go for a brisk walk. :D

I can't remember but I should be going in the shed later (garden refuse tomorrow so cutting the grass is the order of the day). I will take note of it (IIR) :D .

It's a Coinmaster GT, I had to pull out the batteries, 8 AA ones all discharged. I'll get some more tomorrow as I have to go up-town. Hmmmm I aught to find the pointer first as that probably needs batteries as well.

Jim, did it work well when you used it ? I have been looking at Garretts AT pro, not cheap but good reviews.

We took it to a lonely beach but the important part of the team ( and oldest ) said he was feeling poorly so that was the end of that :o . I had only one car and the only adult was me There was no option. It did not interest them further.

Never mind, I am of a mind to have another go. I'll have to find the pointer though.

Yes, a lot of peeps go for the Garret. It has a healthy record.

I am a complete beginner in this though, I need to read up on the machine and what settings are best used. I do know that I went for the best I could afford at the time.

Do you know of a forum for detectors?
Are you hoping to detect someones lost loco?
If so it will need cleaning and a service
