Hornby "Bill" damaged chassis
Hornby "Bill" damaged chassis
Hi , I recently bought a Hornby "Thomas the tank engine " Bill. However it was damaged in transit. The part that held the motor screw was broken. So I was going to design this, and 3d print the part. So started to look last night at glueing that part together so I could get the dimensions. However as I started dismantling it, the damage was worse that I though, the front part of the metal chassis just broke away! You cant seem to purchase these, so has anyone successfully glued a repair like this together, and what did they use? I was thinking of Araldite. Many thanks in advance. Would love to get it back up and running.
Re: Hornby "Bill" damaged chassis
Surely if it was damaged in transit the sender (from who you purchased it) did not take proper care to protect it during carriage or perhaps sold you a previously damaged article?
You should take the matter up with the seller either to get it replaced or repaired or get your money back.

Re: Hornby "Bill" damaged chassis
I've been keeping an eye out for Hornby thomas characters for my, I mean my sons layout, and they are quite expensive especially now that they are out of production. Have you tried finding out what non thomas loco yours shares it chassis with. Little 0-4-0 go for pennies sometimes on ebay and then you cxan just swap the chassis over.
