No reverse

#1

Post by Tobyville »

Hi , I am running a hornby jinty 47646 model via morley vector controller
The loco will not run in reverse, it will run fowards with out issues , and if I turn the loco round it will run in the opersite direction.
I have tested other locos and they run without any issues .
I have posted this question under DCC as when open up the loco it' has a dcc chip installed
Can you advise best course of action
Thanks in-advance advance

If you're going to run the loco on DC power only I would convert it back by removing the decoder.
Basically connect Red decoder wire to Orange and do the same with Black and Grey wires****. Twist and solder all joints and cover with tape or use Heatshrink tubing slid on before twisting and solder each joint.

**** If you can see the two wiring tabs on the motor solder the wire from the right hand sides wheel wiper pick up to one motor tab and the other sides wiper wire wire to the other motor tab, thereby saving having any in-line joints!

Alternatively, a blanking plug for the type of socket would work.

It's not unknown for someone to think a decoder is installed when it's actually a blanking plug they are looking at.

PS Welcome to the forum Toby.

If it is DCC ready rather than fitted it is it could well be a DC operation plug. Or just need one in place of the decoder. Hornby use the 4 pin decoder. The Jinty has been sold DCC factory fitted with a 4 pin decoder, making it DCC Fitted from new.
Need the OP to answer and provide a picture really.
