Lostock Wharf

As well as my main layout, Lostock Junction, I also have a small shunting layout, Lostock Wharf.
This as an end to end layout depicting a canal wharf and two rail served industrial buildings, running into a one road fiddle-yard, using Peco loco lifts to exchange loco and wagons (each one will hold a small loco eg Pug, Sentinel or class 03 diesel, plus 3 or 4 wagons).
The canal narrowboat and end section of the engineering works were free downloads from Scalescenes and the other buildings along the backscene are made up from various downloads from CG textures.
These photos give the general idea.

I can't believe I didn't see this before: an unusual shunter, a canal boat,
deliver freight. This is extraordinary in every way. Fabulous. Absolutely.
Lostock Wharf developments

I've recently made some changes to Lostock Wharf.
The main change to the layout is the addition of a second line into the fiddle yard. This was done by making support pillar for the over-bridge which forms the scenic break narrower, thus allowing the line next to the loading bay to be extended back to the fiddle yard.
The new line can be seen here behind the loco, running underneath the bridge.
Here the loco and wagons are on the original (now front) line
and here on the new (rear) line.
I had to remove the backscene boards to access the baseboard to lay the new track. Unfortunately some damage occurred while I was doing this, so I ended up re-doing the backscenes. I cut down some free backscene papers (from Railway Modeler) for the sky and then reprinted the same downloads for the buildings on the backscene and glued them over the sky paper.
One small amendment was to model the roller shutter doors to the loading dock open, with a print of a warehouse interior behind it - as seen in this photo.
The location of the Wharf layout, underneath my main Lostock Junction layout, supported on some book cubes can be seen in these two photos (I really must fasten up that loose wire!).
Another of the locos used to shunt the wharf, 'Molly' an 0-6-0 tank is seen in this last photo.

Lovely stuff. The detail is excellent and it shows what can be achieved in a small context.

I can only echo all the previous comments - so much detail in such a small space - very well done
