West Somerset Railway in trouble!

Sad to read about this. It takes a lot to turn around £12k operating profit into a £800k loss.
I think there is likely to be more to this story than we read in this item.

Oh dear - that's one of my favourite weekend trips. Hope they can pull through. Looks as though staff costs were mainly to blame, £1.25M. Phew! R-

The sum seems staggering, but in fact it can't account for the full downturn as it is a £550k increase in staffing costs.

Like Roger, that's a couple of weekends 'written off'. More weekends where I'll be expected to go shopping etc.. How far is the Severn Valley from Southampton?????

At least it is Motorway or Dual Carriageway all the way to Junc 4 on the M5. There's always the Glos/Wark as well. If the worst comes to the worst
