Mimic Board Questions.
I hope to have two mimic boards. However the two switches for one pair of points for a crossover which will always need to be switched simultaneously, will end up one on the right hand side of the first board and the second on the left hand edge of the next board. This appears to be a bit of a daft set up. Can anyone offer a possible solution please.
Also, how/where can I draw a nice track diagram for my mimic boards. Thank you chaps.

Can't one switch do both turnouts?

I assume analog control of the points and solenoid type motors?
Add two link wires between the switched terminals of the motors then they will work together when either switch is thrown.
Many ways of doing diagrams - my choice is very narrow vinyl pinstriping from car accessory shops or stationers (brand name Nobo lining tape for whiteboards).

I guess another question is what brand of mimic board? Do you have a web link for it?
If it is one you are building, then it is completely upto you on where switches are located.

By any chance would you have a wiring diagram that a bit of a novice like me might be able to understand how to do this switching of both points on a crossover from either of the switches. Or is it easier just to have one switch which switches both points on the crossover?
Also what size box (and how deep) would I need for 7 points, of which I will have two cross overs (4 points, sorry turn outs) and 3 individuals
One of my points on one of my crossovers will be on this mimic board and its pair on the adjacent one if you follow me.
Would A4 size be about right?

I will sort something out in the next couple of days - just got home from work and off to the NEC first thing in the morning.

Have a read through the last section here, Clik link it may help? The last solenoid motor drawing shows two motors operated from one switch. Assuming solenoids are being used? Plus look around the site (mainly the Electrical pages) and you will find details on panels and point position indicators etc
A4 should be ample for a small panel. A3 for a something larger.

Brian has made it easy for me.
Connect a wire between the two A terminals on the motors and another between the two marked B.
If the motors do not set the points the way you want them connect A on PM one to B on PM two and B on PM one and A on PM two.
Either switch will fire both points then.

My mimic board is a sheet of 3mm thick plasticard, with the track lined out, as Steve M mentioned with car pin-striping tape from Halfords. Point switches are obviously where a point is indicated on the board. There are three voltage-regulators for lighting. The two turntables are operated via a H&M Clipper, with a switch directing the power to whatever t/t is being used. My mimic board is mounted directly on my work bench/control table, which just had a rectangular hole cut into it for the wiring. Perhaps not as tidy as a purpose built/designed board, but it works well.

One further question, is the box underneath the mimic board better enclosed with a hinged top, or is it just a cover for where everything comes together?
