I got my Class 73 (R2517) E6003 out after a couple of years of storage and when I tried to run it it stayed still and the motor just made a buzzing sound. So I took the body off and gently prized the motor bogie out of its housing and released the two little plastic catches on the top of the motor so I could just see the gears at either end of the motor shaft through the gap, then I closed it up again and applied power leads to the exposed wires on the side of the motor and, lo and behold, the wheels turned . I reassembled it, and put it on the rolling road, where it ran as good as new.

I suspect it has had a jolt which caused the worm wheels to get crossed with the pinions and by releasing the pressure and allowing everything to settle where it should be I cured the problem. It was very much 'trial and error because these sealed motor bogies are somewhat of a mystery, However I share this anecdote in case it helps someone else!
