Hornby Bagnall

So as a little distraction I picked up the Hornby Coca Cola train set, was good fun at work over Christmas. Now however I am thinking about a DCC conversion (not a big job fairly straight forward) and fitting some lights, but what lights to fit?

Ive got some LED's and Hornby have kindly indicated some light locations. So the thoughts are to fit the centre headlight as a white with the two lower as red for when we go backwards.
as the back of the cab only has an indicated mark for two low lights these would then be white/red depending on travel.
from looking online the front seems reasonable but the rear seems to be a varied mix.

So progress has been slow, with other distractions and a lack of glue.
Front has had two lights fitted they aren't the best as even the SMD LED's were slightly too big for the hole drilled, there is also a bit of light bleed into the body work but hopefully when they have resistors that will be manageable.

for the rear of the cab a red and white LED glued to a small piece of fibre optic this then pushes through the drilled hole in the cab

testing of a rear light (if the gif works)

All the lights are now in place, connecting it all up is going to be a fun challenge

and do I put a cab light in too

A cab light may mask any bleed of light from the rear light.

Paint the inside black and use the paint to seal any gaps between body parts.

for the rear I hope to fit a sub floor and the lights will be secured in place with some black silicon so they should be alright. The front ones are more of an issue but we shall see, a transfer or something might be needed.
Hopefully get it all back together over the weekend

A little progress so the cab has been fitted out, a little console, driver and the light fitted above.

starting to really regret this project or scale, maybe should have been less ambitious in the scope of work.
Anyway decoder plug and harness modified to allow the lights/body work to be removed

next job is picking some resistors and fitting all the wires to the other end of the plug
