Just returning to railway modelling after retirement, certainly narrow gauge, probably OO9.

Cheers

Welcome to a great forum. I'm sure you'll find things have changed over the years in modelling railways.

Questions are usually answered quickly and very fully.

After retirement is essential to have something to keep your mind active, and this hobby will certainly do that. Don't forget to enjoy the great British weather outdoors too! :D

I prefer 7mm narrow gauge as for me it is the ideal size to work with. I used to be into H0e which was the European version of 009, as a decade or so ago there were no factory made models in 009 scale. Mind you, in 7mm narrow gauge I have to buy kits or scratchbuild, though in this slightly larger scale I find things are a lot easier to work with so it compensates for the lack of factory made models. If anything, I like that I have to make them myself as it gives them character, though I only keep to the simpler kits and simple designs to scratchbuild.

Welcome to the forum. Narrow gauge in any scale is fun!

Welcome to the friendly and helpful forum - loads of knowledgeable members, fun and funny too. If Iwas starting again Iwould go for 7mm narrow gauge - bigger to deal with as you get older and allows you to be quirky and do your own thing (man)!
