Has anyone used a computer vacuum to pick up excess ballast and other cleanup? Do they have enough power? Any brand better than others?

I have and I could have done better with a drinking straw so I got one of these. Really good.

Whatever you do don't buy the Woodland Scenics vacuum - it really is a waste of space.

I know this is a VERY old post, but I have just stumbled upon it. We recently bought the vac below and highly recommend it. The 'dusting brush' attachment is wonderful for cleaning along tracks.

We got that one too, quite powerful and comes with a variety of nozzles which make it useful in awkward places. I think it was £29.99 when we bought it. I cannot recall seeing it recently but then if you are not looking for it it’s easy to miss.

Oscar, that link takes you to a USB powered model, not a rechargeable one. I see there are similar looking models available eg Amazon that are rechargeable via USB.

Didn't realise! Mine is identical to look at in every way.
