Got my new baseboards finished this weekend it took ages to get the lifting flap by the room door fitted and working properly. Will do some pictures once have something to show. Boards are about 28" and run around the 9' x 9' square room. Door opens out wards so nothing to hinder the layout.
Now for the track. Don't have a plan only ideas in my head. Will get double track down and running and let things develop from there. Want to get something running.

Mod Note: Topic moved to Baseboard section of the forum as it will get more readers here.

That’s the way I do it Sandy. Get some track down and something moving.

Thanks walkingthedog. Much more fun running some trains and just let things develop.

Glad to see your making some progress. It does pay to make a list of what you want on your layout, for example do you want a turntable, a storage yard, station etc., then plan where they are to go. Barry

Go for it. However, I let my layout develop in an organic sort of way and should have planned some areas a bit more carefully as I had to go back and modify which caused probs and took time. Mind you it’s hard to stick to a fixed plan if other ideas come along as you work. It’s a bit like a house - you need to live in it a bit before you know what you want to do with it.

I do have a plan, it is just not on piece of paper it is in my head. I have started laying a station plan by drawing pencillings on the baseboards seeing how it works. Have got the first pieces of track down but not pinned any down yet. It is coming along slowly. :)

"Slowly" is best!

Don't pin any track, or cut holes for point motors, just yet.
There is ALWAYS something you want to alter, because the traffic has a bottle-neck, or something just doesn't look right.
When you are absolutely sure everything is right - STILL don't fasten anything down for a while. (see line 2!)
