Stock availability

I spent sometime yesterday on the web looking for a few bits and pieces to progress work on my layout and it was really noticeable that more retailers than normal had zero stock and many items on back order...... could not find for love or money a spray can of Railmatch RM1406 Sleeper Grime and could only get one Javis Single Tunnel Portal, when I was looking for two.

I guess the distribution to the supply chain from Covid 19 is having an effect and whilst clearly not a priority situation compared to “real life events”, it will start to impact in particular the smaller retailers who are trying to maintain an on-line presence, if stock replenishment from manufacturers is not forthcoming.

Trouble is they are not allowed to post spray cans. I have been buying lots of stuff on line that I would usually buy at shows. One or two retailers that I have talked to are rushed off their feet.

WTD - For sure I have seen some retailer refer to restrictions on posting spray cans, but I have bought a can from Hattons just over a month or so ago, so not consistent everywhere....... anyway, my comment was more about general stock levels rather than the single can of spray paint.

Yes so was mine. They have sold out due to high demand and less staff. The companies can’t get the stuff to the retailers quick enough. Having said that one retailer said there would be a delay of 1 to 3 months and it arrived in 4 days. Took me by surprise.

I think it’s just Royal Mail that won’t deliver aerosols.

Correct - RM won’t deliver any liquids or aerosols. Supplier should get round that by using couriers who will deliver liquids etc.

Apart from spray, I also noticed a lack of availability. I was after some track and almost everyone was out of stock. Probably a case of high demand due to everyone being at home and lack of stock coming in.

Persactly. Peco bought out some 2nd rad O gauge curves a short while ago. None left anywhere. Luckily I got in quick.

It seems that Peco are shut down, I have an outstanding order for buffers and brake wagon kits in N. The firm I ordered from said it won't be fulfilled until Peco go back to work.
Other manufacturers seem to be getting stuff out OK.

They started limited production on the 27 April. They only have a small amount of staff and are slowly moving towards full production.

Perhaps some of the staff have to self isolate.

What other manufacturers?
