Beyer Garatt, hatred of points

#1

Post by yelrow »

Hi, Superb loco, runs happily on my round the interior walls, layout, 17 foot, x4, long straights and large radius bends. To save lifting it off, tried to insert a single point siding. Went all through my spare points, all hornby, but several sorts. Whatever, i try, it refuses to cross, without losing either front or back diddy wheels, which derail. Any suggestions, as to a suitable point, peco ?.

Check the wheel back to back.

Hi, wtd, thanks. Happens in both direction on points, but if it was out, would it not be a problem when running straight, or round bends.

It is generally on points where it will play up. If the wheels are too close together they can catch on all the gubbins on points, check rails and frogs etc.
