Hi from me

Hi all, new member. Already asked few questions thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm Andy 37, as a kid my brother Dad and I had a train set up in the loft, I was more into Scaleletrix, as the trainset was too slow and never worked, spent more time trying to clean it then play/interact with it. It was just layed on the floor as restricted head height and went around the chimney stack, had to get ladders out from the shed and extension cable from landing running up, as a kid bit nolvilty, dusty and dirty though
I still have those old locos and I have also acquired an assortment of track, electronics and buildings along with a more advanced controller (Hornby HM2000) than the basic throttle controller with the twisty knob that we had.
Now have family myself a 6 and 12 year old, trying to encourage them.to help.
The other year I joined the forum.and planned to set up.in loft but only got as far as boarding the floor (still need electrics etc finishing before could use it. The kids are now sharing a bedroom, leaving a spare bedroom as the train room.
I had it temporary set up on the floor, in a spare bedroom to test, started with a single oval, then return loop but of course it shorted, as no isolating track or whatnot. I then made twin track running around the room with P2P and return loops at either side of the door. The 6yr old shown interest once something moved.
I'm still at planning stages, asked questions about freestanding or affixed to walls/best height and sizes etc.
As all new to us my current plan is 8*6ft board with an access hole rather than making mistake of my childhood memory of load of bare track not working as well as keeping initial set up costs low using what I have and if takes can then extend
So yeah that's it really and Hi from me again
