Hi all.
New to.the hobby, had a set as a kid now got kids of my own. I set up an oval to test to test things and then did an around the room with return loop which of course didn't work as no isolating track/switches. It's temporarily just laid on floor and in process of planning/building the base but undecided on track plan/layout.
I don't really know/understand train operations so can't read plans nor do I understand the wiring/electronics l.
At the heart will be a Hornby HM2000 twin controller with controlled and uncontrolled inputs. I want be able to run at least 2 trains independently.

Where's best place to start?
Tia

This is a basic guide to Hornby track and wiring which may help. https://www.hornby.com/wp/wp-content/up ... Dec-16.pdf

It will (possiblly) download to your normal downloads location and it may open automatically.

It wasn't to many years ago that I was in exactly the same position as you. Brian is probably far to modest to promote his own book, but this saved me from total confusion. I highly recommend it. Read it through before you even pick up a piece of track let alone purchase anything.

I would second what Mr Bones said - his book is excellent, although with so much to think about it might give you a headache.
