Bachmann EZ price!

#1

Post by darkscot »

I have just noticed that the Bachmann E-Z Command is over £300 on Amazon, yet you can get the NCE Powercab for about £180! Am I missing something here? I have a 2nd hand E-Z I paid about £50 for and would have been disappointed if I had paid much more than about £120 for it new. Does the E-Z have some hidden qualities I am yet to discover?

It’s different prices where ever you look. If Amazon want to charge £1000 and somebody is willing to pay that much more fool them and well done Amazon. :D

That controller is very basic, and as cheap as chips. I agree with W T D.

Just looked at this again. The one that costs £316.59 + £9.99 P&P seems to be sold by a company based in America. There is also the same thing on Amazon sold by Cheltenham Model Centre for £145 free delivery.

Rails of Sheffield have them for £104.50.

It always pays to "shop around". A mistake we have all made at sometime or another - click and purchase only to find we could have bought cheaper elsewhere. We live and learn :) .

You do see some weird pricing on Amazon.
A DAB radio I was looking at normally costs £209 everywhere (including on Amazon) and I seen it discounted at £170.
However, there are 3rd party sellers advertising the same radio on Amazon for £322 and £474 !!!

As for the price of the basic EZ Command DCC system, several years ago these could be purchased from split up Bachmann train sets, at very cheap prices.
These were brand new EZ Commands, with power supply, cables and user manual, but without any packaging (the train set box).
I can remember seeing them being sold on retailer stands at a few large model railway exhibitions, for £39.

I think that was the source of mine. I bought it off eBay, but I can remember at the time there was no shortage of them available.
