We bought this one about a month ago

The sound quality is superb and it has a special enhanced mode for speech. However, we have to adjust the volume using its own remote control, not the TVs. We have an LG TV and if you have an LG (or some others) soundbar you can syncronise the volume control so the TV remote controls the sound bar. It is not a big deal, but it is something I would look out for next time.

Thanks Brian, first LOL of the day!

I don't have a sound bar myself John, but today might be a good day to treat yourself as it's Black Friday. Just had a quick look on Amazon's Black Friday list and there are loads. Be careful though as Amazon is not always the cheapest so check around.

I have a Samsung sound bar which is very good ,but with my failing hearing I find the very best thing are my Sennheiser wireless head phones everything on the tv becomes crystal clear without interfering with other people viewing the same program by having the volume turned up to loud, also all the whispering is audible and clear I can’t recommend WiFi headphones to much they have revolutionised my listening experience.

We use a Pioneer sound box, the TV stands on it. Very nice.

Mine is also a Samsung and it works well, but it is connected to a Samsung TV which helps. It has had the occasional hissy-fit and disconnected itself for no reason, but that could have been the TV.
