Hi

I was wondering if anyone can help. I want to build a curved wall in oo gauge to separate my town from the track, something around the 7ft high mark (scale height). I had a good look round and bought the model railway scenery 7ft Victorian wall, however when I put it together for double sided it will not bend enough to go round the r4 bends. I've looked again but I really can't find anything. Therefore can anyone offer any advise.

I would try making one with card covered with brick or stone printed paper downloaded from the web.

If you want to take a look at my Montgreenan layout you can see some curved walls that I have made in various locations either with thin hardboard or cardboard which is then covered with stone effect paper ( effectively wallpaper).

If you have any questions I will be happy to try to help, but I am sure there are also many other examples from others on the forum.

Could you make vertical cuts at intervals along the whole length to increase flexibility- assuming no-one will see the back.

Thank you for all the suggestions the problem I've found with the model railway scenery brick wall cardboard kit I bought is two fold. Firstly when I make it double sided as it will be visible from both sides it's to thick and doesn't bend very much and even when it does bend the glued paper brick wall on the inner side kinks or starts to come away from the cardboard.

I was wondering Hound dog what thickness hardboard did you use and did you have the issue with the paper covering?

This is becoming one of those problems that takes on far to much importance as I know what I want the finished article to look like but I don't seem to be able to get there. very frustrating......

A method I have used in the past is to cut a section of plywood to size (HxWxL) for the wall then soak it in hot water just long enough for it to become pliable. In an ideal world I would steam it in a sealed container.
It can then be shaped round a suitable form - this could be as simple as supporting the ends while standing a weight in the middle to give it a bow. Allow it to dry and it should retain the shape.
Then add paper, paint or whatever.

Would flexi ply work ? It seems that starts from under one mm thick.

Can I add that I steamed a strip of ply over a kettle to form the curved edge of my small baseboard extension (see Low Ghyll thread) using the method in post #7.

I have not used this product...........I believe it comprises crumb rubber but whether you could stick brick pattern paper to it would be questionable.
