DCC Concepts Legacy Powerpoints

I see from a recent newsletter that DCC Concepts through a sister company Legacy, have produced a new product to align baseboards and at the same time transfer power.
This idea has been a kind of Nirvana for exhibition layouts, self connecting boards, no miss wires, no jumper leads to lose. A few solutions have been around already, using the traditional brass pattern makers dowels that many employ for alignment for one. My only reservation about that idea is that it would require correct clamping of base boards together and over time as things wore would the contact become unreliable. Another idea is the wired joining bolts which seems reliable in that you only have to ensure the bolts are torqued up, but it is not something I have seen catch on in a big way.
So what do folk think of this new idea based on alignment dowels? DCC Concepts claim they are “bulletproof” but that comes at a price with cost at just under £19 a pair, I suppose all that gold plating comes at a cost. They also claim they are easily repairable by the average modeller, is that a hint on their durability? I assume they are somehow spring loaded to ensure a good contact so plenty of potential for “ping f***it” if you have to carry out an emergency repair during exhibition set up.
I would be interested in members views and it might be interesting if someone from DCC Concepts could contribute and elaborate on them beyond the sales blurb.
