On your marks, get set.....

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

It seemed a good idea to start a new thread as the “table” bit of our construction has now been built.... carpenter in this morning and all is ready (and level) for the next stage of our build.

We had originally thought of 6ft x 4ft, but with a bit of ripping, shovelling, sorting and dumping (as well as the fortunate arrival of a skip) our baseboard has progressed somewhat....

It’s 1800 x 1100 on one side, about 2500 long across the back, and about 1400 x 1100 on the right - so a very loose U shape. All the legs are adjustable and it’s in two sections with a small joining piece in the middle.

I’ll try and upload a pic 🤞

Ha ha, I'm not so sure about that, most of us on here do our modelling as a solitary pursuit.Though I do admit to a lot of talking to myself, whether it be congratulating myself when I've completed something well or calling myself a silly a**e when I've done something stupid (a common occurence!).

Whichever it is there is still a lot of fun to be had with the hobby.

So here we are a few days on from completing the baseboard...

And if I ever have to connect another piece of track ever again, I think I might need to go and live in a chocolate factory & have a wine tanker deliver every day....😳😂😂😂

Seriously though, pico were the only brand I could get whilst shopping, and blimey! How fiddly and annoying are they... hats off to all of you for putting up with the pain of cut fingers! Let alone the angst & fury of trying to fit them 😟

We’ve sort of agreed on a layout, but it might need a little bit of tweaking. We’ve bought a few accessories (buffer stops, 2 new “engines”, some cows, cork board, connectors & lots of PVA.

I’ve also had my instructions about creating some low relief backgrounds, and fortunately, as I have an A level in art, lots of photography experience ans good working knowledge of photoshop, it’s something I’m looking forward to 😊

I shall keep you posted with some photos in the next few days.

Happy new year everyone 🥂🥂🥂

One of the secrets of joing track is to do it on a flat surface, not waving it about in the air.

It really isn’t difficult, just take your time. :)

When you said Pico did you mean Peco or Piko. In my view Peco is the very best.
