Good afternoon all

Wonder if you have any ideas what maybe the issue here, I have a Hornby Class 41 TTS Sound Loco had this for some time now just never got around to having it on the layout, doing some changes as we go.

Tried to change the loco address today from the default 3 to the long address, but when it is on the programming track it keeps coming up on my NCE Powercab it can not find the loco.

Tested the programming track with a few other loco's all good, when I put the Class 41 on the main line it works perfect sound etc no issue as long as I use the default address 3

Any suggestions or ideas please?

I had a similar issue with a different loco. I was advised to program on the main track. This worked perfectly. Worth a try.

Apparently there are some decoders that don't like being programmed on a programming track.

Firstly make sure the programming track is spotless, place your finger on top of loco with light pressure on it while using your powercab, failing that you may need to do your adjustments on the main.

Just checking the obvious

does it run ok on its default address

If not it might be something silly like the decoder has been plug in the wrong way around, easy to do with 8 pin plugs, like I said just checking the obvious ;)

OP, stated in his post it runs ok.

Hi
Initially try a short address 1 to 126 Such as 55 or whatever, then if it works on that address you can try a long address. :D

maybe try and set CV29 to value 32 to accept a long loco address
see http://www.2mm.org.uk/articles/cv29%20calculator.htm

With NCE and setting addresses, one does not have to play with CV29 - just follow the English words concerning short & long addresses when programming - I can change any address on the main easily on the run.

If the programming track works on other loco's surely the fault must be with this loco. Do you have a friend that has a dcc layout you could try it on. Best of luck and stay safe .

Hi

TTS decoders are the Devils own work made under licence by Hornby! :o

Programming on the Main is IMO the best option. I would as a "just in case" option remove all other locos from the main Tracks, then undertake the Programming on the Main (POM) option. I know you don't have to normally remove all locos, but you don't want to have all of them become the same address number accidently! I would also and as suggest above, try a short address number change initially. 1 to 127 range and see what happens then if that is OK use the long address as needed. :D

You could as a last resort to a reset of the decoder CV8 enter 8 It may well work in the programming mode! Address will become 3 then test on that and readdress again.
