Passenger coaches.

Can anyone tell me, relative new to model Railways, how to dismantle a passenger carriage to gain access to put some lights in? I've looked at the ones I have and it is not obvious and I don't want to ruin them.

Thank you

John

You need to tell us the make and what they are.

On my N gauge coaches it seems that the top couple of millimetres of the chassis sits inside the coach body and clips on. To remove the body you have to carefully slip something thin between the body and the chassis to release the clip.

But some of the wagons require you to remove the bogies because the same screw that holds them holds the body.

Who made your coaches?

GWR and your name is Nine Elms - hope you painted it green

There are normally four very small clips - often part of the glazing, and can be found in each corner by the bogies. Extreme care is required as they snap very easily. If you have a very fine screwdriver you may be able to gently lever the clip out of alignment and the body will come off. Sometime using a thin piece of plasticard or old credit/store card these can be slid between the body and chassis - it is usually the four clips in each corner.
Make sure there is no pipe work on the roof that runs down and attached to the chassis. BB
