Pretty good. My favourite is the D Day Overlord dock scene. Amazing.

Wow that is impressive!

A lovely looking layout that represents a USA harbour scene. To achieve it the owner has made great use of FOS Scale Models (no affiliation) to make the scene.

That exhibition was the tipping point that made me decide it was time to have a go at building my own layout, although I doubt I'll ever get near the standard of some of the layouts on show.

Remember, most of those layouts have a few people building them and/or have taken a long time to build.

The step is starting.

Learn from others. Do not copy (it does not work) but adapt.

Any mistakes (there will be) do not 'beat yourself up', but learn from them.

Get something running. Then build on.

Have fun. It is a hobby. There is no race; just a winner (you).

Thanks for that glencairn. I'm not falling over myself to get it finished, I'm just enjoying the learning curve for now.

Once I'm happy with the track plan, I'm going to get my head around how to wire it up; bus/dropper wires, point motors etc.

I can see it's going to take me months or maybe even longer.

I didn't realise what a marvellous distraction it would be.
