Just received this email - which explains long delays in orders - sorry for the format - I just copied the email.

ORDERS RECEIVED SINCE
CHRISTMAS DAY

As per the previous strict lockdowns, I'm
receiving a lot of orders, and am working
my way through them as quickly as
possible, BUT I'm being severely hampered
by up to FIFTY TEXTS OR PHONE CALLS
A DAY from people asking where their
orders are - fair enough, except that on the
Home Page of my website I'm quoting
between 6 and 20 working days, to cover
both being alone in Crown Street (by law -
Elspeth not even allowed to help) and the
steep rise in orders.
I'm working as hard as I can to send them
out to you, so PLEASE, PLEASE cut me
some slack, cut out the phone calls to the
oiffice asking where your order is or the
emails and texts day and night.
That way you'll ALL get your orders a lot
faster, I'll get more sleep, and hopefully
won't have to work 14 hours a day, seven
days a week, like I've done since
Christmas.
Please don't reply to this message, but
you're welcome to put it on social media
(I don't use Facebook, Twitter, etc..)

Now the good news, some reprinted
decals are due in about three weeks, and
lots of etched nameplates in early April

I was one of those 50 a day emails but when I ordered the LNER transfers for the tender project, they were quoting 5 to 10 days.
I emailed after 12 days and I am still waiting coming up on four weeks now.

Personally I don't buy the covid excuse, it's not that difficult for workplaces to be covid compliant, even with small premises.

I've been in touch with RailTec Transfers to see if they can produce numbering sets for the big four as an expansion to their mainly modern outline range.

I was not impressed by the "tone" of the email - likewise the message on their site. They are not the only people under pressure.
I was also one of the fifty emails - I ordered on the 11th January 2021.

And coupled with the quality issue I encountered with the other supplier (out of character, I must add) I am somewhat frustrated.
Regrettably, producing my own transfers is not something I can do. ;)

Steve,

I am sure you probably have the tooling to do or could manufacture same 😀

Seriously I am getting tired of Covid being used for an excuse for everything - tried for weeks to have a discussion with my Pension provider but they cannot accept calls because of Covid !

Funnily enough after posting earlier I did some very quick and superficial research. It appears that an ordinary inkjet printer can be used on decal paper then overcoated with a sealant!

No idea regarding how permanent they might be but for me the big drawback would be the hours spent on a graphic design software package to recreate the images - I know how long RailTec spend perfecting their images before going into production so it’s probably a nonstarter for me. Good to know it’s possible though.

It would also mean I’d have to put my prices up. :D

I do have a confession.......I have ‘previous’ when it comes to DIY. Some years ago I was involved in slotcar racing with a local club. I became frustrated by the relatively poor supply of decent tyres and grip compounds - the result was me producing a range of silicon tyres of different sizes and compounds that were sold to club members. Quite successful in its own way.

That's interesting, I've been emailing my pension provider since beginning of November, no reply or confirmation forthcoming. Perhaps they've all emigrated to sunnier climes and taken our pots with them!

Sorry, off topic
