Firstly, it would be necessary to know what gauge/scale you are working to?

Sorry, 00, hence 60 mm, is from ancient memory

Using Peco Streamline then the centres of track are set at 50mm.
If using Hornby/Peco Setrack then the centres are 67mm.
Distance is always centre of track 1 to centre of track 2, not the outside or inner rail distances. You can of course increase or possibly decrease the centre to centre spacing as needed.

Think John wants the distance between the ends of the sleepers of each track so he can slide a length of wood along with the tracks butted up to it.

That would be 38mm if using Hornby spacing........HB

Won't that really depend on make of track to be used? I'm not sure if say Peco Streamline is the same sleeper length as Hornby or any other make?? Hence the track centres which remain the same regardless

Yes it will but Hornby and Peco are the same. I do understand the reason though, a good way of running two long parallel flexi lines.

Whatever the minimum spacing between tracks on the straight are John, I'm sure you will know that further separation is required on curves to allow the overhang of some locos and rolling stock.

Hi, Teed, thanks for that. I have new 5.3 metres, by 2.8 metres, so some long straights. I wanted them to be true, hence pieces of wood between tracks. I have a peco metal bend thingy, so that will help, as have no bendy wood, for curves. I have a Helix at each end, with an enormous bridge, joining them up, so, continuous running. This is, DC. The rest will be DCC, except for one large rectangle, of DC, to run Brighton Belle. Hence my initial question, as it is kinda tight for three tracks, behind LH Helix. Its only taken 3 weeks to build Helixs/ Bridge, and i never want to see a Threaded rod, nut, or washer , again. There are about 13 rods per helix, plus 9 nuts and washers. Fortunately, Lidl, chose this time, to offer their Metal chop saw, at a massive reduction, and picked up one for 49 Euros. Super, machine, wish i had bought one years ago. No more Hacksawing.
