Peco Code 75, SL-E194 Diamond wiring for DCC Help!!!!!

Crossover.PNG

Just at the start of the initial laying of track and the wiring for DCC control.

Just got a couple of questions to ask.

1. Do i need to insulate the inner tracks of the diamond (cyan lines)

2. Do also need to isolate the connections that go to the inner tracks of each point from the crossover.

3. How do you wire a double point , one after each other

The yellow dots are the power feeds for the track.

Hi

Here is my take using any Electrofrog item - Diamond or Point....

Fit Insulated Rail Joiners (IRJs) to all rail ends leading away from the frog(s). Then add correct polarity new rail feeds after the IRJs as necessary.

On an Electrofrog Diamond crossing add eight IRJs - one on each rail end. Then you will need to power the frogs (2 of them) from some form of switching. Often this is micro switches or switches factory fitted to the point motors leading into the diamond, but can also be a DPDT toggle switch. Equally a Reverse Loop module or a Dual Frog juicer can be used on DCC layouts (not to be used on DC layouts though). The diamond will have four factory fitted wires attached (or it should have!). Two are the frog wires as mentioned and the other two are the wires that are directly DCC feed
Typical examples of Electrofrog Diamond crossing wiring is shown here... https://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/DCC-Pag ... ogdiamonds

Some of the IRJs needed on standard electrofrog points are already catered for via the Diamonds IRJs, but any rails that lead out of the points vee to other rails that are not part of the diamond need a IRJ in that directions Vee rail after the frog, if no other IRJs are fitted in the same rail.

Hi Brian

Yes the point does have 4 wires already attached to the crossover 2 on either side.
