Morning gents,
Think I may have made a boo boo, just purchased Triang Oo Gauge R480 straights, they seem a little thick and does not seem to quite fit and look right compared to the Peco and Hornby track I am using, have I purchased something that is not compatible or is there something I can do?
Your guidance and help much appreciated

The rails are much thicker and taller than later track. They will also be made of steel as opposed to nickel silver so will be harder to clean and prone to rust. I think you can get a short conversion track but you will need quite a few if you intend to use modern points and curves etc. My advice is get rid of it.

Yep - you've purchased Super 4 track and modern track is Series 6 from Hornby, compatible with Peco code 100 track.
Super 4 track is code 125 hence the larger profile. Part R476 is the part number, but as WTD says, it would be better to get rid of the track. If you've just purchased it you may be able to return it to the seller. They go for pennies on E-bay. Depending on how much you have you could use the straight bits of metal as loads on freight by dismantling them.

I hope you didn't pay too much for them - actually I hope you got them for free! Unless they're planning on running very old Tri-ang stock they're no use to anyone although there are a few that run Super 4 track such as Mr Snooze
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBwdBc ... Bf9o6EYQOQ and Oscar Paisley did until he switched his channel
https://www.youtube.com/user/oscarpaisley to Series 6. He still manages a lot of older stock on the newer track.

When I first got back into the hobby I made the opposite mistake. I bought a Peco track starter set to run my Triang engines and rolling stock on. They made a very unpleasant clunking sound as they ran along the sleepers!
I kept some of my super 4 track for displaying my rolling stock when it was not in the layout. I got some slim shelving from Ikea and put the track on that. The shelf has a lip at the front so you don't really notice the track.

Elaines Trains is a Triang specialist. She usually had things like that in stock.
