What DCC decoder?

I’m searching for advice regarding what dcc sound decoders to use on two particular locos.
I’ve been putting together a smallish layout for my grandchildren. All is ready except I need to set up a couple of locos with dcc sound. I have a railroad Flying Scotsman and Bachman Class 40, both are dcc ready. My local model shop sold me a TTS decoder for the FS but is actually for A4 loco because the correct one was out of stock. And I can’t find one anywhere for the Class 40 under £115.
My main question - is the sound from the Hornby TTS decoders so noticeably different (obviously steam or Diesel) - does the A4 sound so different to that of the FS? Also can anyone recommend a sound decoder for my Class 40 that is reasonably priced.
The layout is set up with everything else I need so if anyone could offer any suggestions it would really be appreciated. I’ve returned to the world of model railways for the first time since my childhood and so I’m so keen to learn more!
Many thanks,
ColinM
