Adding detail

Hello, after getting back into the hobby after a long time away I'm wanting to delve into more detailed parts of the hobby than previously.

I have a BR 9f and I'm wanting to weather and detail the loco to high standards. The weathering doesn't bother me as I have the kit and experience and also enjoy doing it but it's the adding the detail that I'm struggling with.

I'm looking for additional detail such as pipework, tool boxes, crew etc but also replacing existing parts for me detail such as steps and ladders.

The moulding of the pipework is really 'plastic' looking and no amount of paint or weathering can take away from it.

Brass, white metal or any material is fine but just looking for suggestions on where I can get detail packs from, not necessarily for the 9f but just to up the detail.

Thanks

Jon

There are quite a few places to look.

Here is one for a start.

And another.

Alan Gibson do detailing parts for the BR standards,
also look at Southeastern Models they. do kits manly but will sell parts if asked nicely.
Wizard models, have a large collection of kits and parts also.

There’s Brassmasters which do kits, and parts but the kits are for the experienced modeller.

247 models which do bits
High level kits do kits motors and gearbox’s.

There are other companies but these will get you started
