Found this awesome kit and just had to have it, like you do. It wasn't even Black Friday but out came the plastic and a few clicks later I was 70 beer vouchers worse off.

Laser cut parts with amazing detail. As in lots and lots of parts, including some very small ones which the people who make it say they'll replace (once...) if you lose or break one.



I reckon this will take me months as an evening after work isn't going to be enough to complete most of the numerous steps, but looking forward to the challenge.

People who make them are called railmodel.co.uk - never heard of them until I miss-typed this forum address into my browser.

Detail on this is amazing - just finished putting on the window sills after giving it a blast of primer...

Started colouring it before I fit the doors and windows etc.

Not 100pc happy but getting there. You can see depth and detail even with my cack-handed painting.

Started on the windows, which are made by sandwiching a piece of acetate between two frames. The frames, which have to be painted first, are so fine they won't stand up to much filing down to fit into the wall apertures.

It's also next to impossible to get them to line up.

Here's a warts 'n all look at the first attempt, which looks awful although this is something less than an inch high shot on a macro lens.

Good job I started on the back (which you won't see when it's completed and in situ...) first.

Now scratching my head for a better way.

Looking good. Windows are a real pain for me. Like you I cut the aperture as carefully as possible. I then find a dirty glass photo from the ‘net’, reduce it in size but make the piece bigger than the window frame. I then put glue around the outside edge and stick it to the plastic (glass) pane so that the pane is of course at the front. This then becomes my window to stick behind the frame. Hope this helps you and I’m not teaching granny etc etc !
